Figured I'd post this here before anywhere else. A full high quality rip of the first game's music by me, tagged and ordered logically.

Still listening to this. http://www.last.fm/user/Sertuga/library/music/Kinuyo+Yamashita

In case anyone's curious, I exported MP3s of the GBS from Foobar and then trimmed them and saved them in 256k. There's no credits theme, because I never cared about it enough. :P Maybe the time's come to use GBS2GB and redo this.

Is there any real reason to redo them? Are they actually not accurate enough in some way or something? Because it sounds quite good to me... =)

There are minor nuances in the sound based on what you use to emulate it. What's generally considered the "best" is, unsurprisingly, recording directly from a physical system. (What is slightly surprising is that the original Game Boy has "better" sound, and can play the music for any game with GBS2GB and a flashcart.) Personally, when I was wandering around the Sanaeba Lab yesterday on VBA, I thought it sounded noticeably different from the rip, Palm Sea's theme far more so. (BGB sounds more similar to this rip iirc). So, the sound source definitely does matter, but it's largely a matter of taste. For this, I went the whole hog, which I'm considering doing for Telefang 1.

Please do, then! This game has excellent tunes that deserve the attention, if you ask me. =)

Nice! And yes Palm Sea is VERY noticeably different on a cart than on most emulators, it was really weird when I first heard it for real.

I've never had the chance to hear any of them on a retail cart! Does it sound closer to VBA or BGB? I'll rip that one next so you can see how KiGB compares, but for now, have these, probably my favorite two songs in the game:

Here's a little thing I've started on. It's tricky to get all those short notes, but I'll get it eventually. I can post a MIDI once I'm done with that phase and then maybe do my own arrangement: http://www.mediafire.com/download/5leqbs4e7a1dyp5/Pepperi_Mountain_Arrangement_in_progress.mp3

Pasting this here for future reference and anyone whom it might interest. Apparently our beloved Bram Stroker wasn't the only one behind all this brilliant work! It was three people:

I mean, yeah, we know the game's credits.

I make the following claims. Iku Mizutani is listed solely for his creation of the sound driver, as with many other Natsume works. Hisako Mizutani is only responsible for the SFX, because she's also credited under Telefang 2, which shares no music and is known to have been composed by Minako Adachi. Therefore it is my belief that it was Kinuyo Yamashita who composed all of the game's music alone.
