Re: A quick reminder about requesting and providing ROMs

Lately, there have been unusually many people joining Tulunk Village and asking for ROMs as soon as they join. Due to the influx of people asking for ROMs, we would like to remind everybody not to do this. Not only is it against Tulunk Village's rules, but it is also against ZetaBoards's TOS (see section 3.1 here), as well as against the law.

Because of this, asking for ROMs, or providing ROMs, is prohibited. Anybody who violates this will be subject to penalties:

- On the first offense, any thread asking for or providing ROMs will be locked. If it is a post within another thread, that post will be deleted.
- On the second offense, the user will receive a warning as well, which will show up in his/her profile.
- On the third offense, the user will receive a ban for one week.
- Any offense after that will result in a ban for a longer duration, for at least one month. This is up to the admin's or mod's discretion.

In addition, you cannot provide your e-mail, AIM, MSN, etc. if it's in a post asking for or providing ROMs. Sending a ROM by e-mail is basically the same as posting it on this board, so anybody who tries this will be subject to the same penalties.

However, despite that ROM providing/begging is prohibited, ROM patches (with IPS or UPS extensions) are still allowed. This is because patches only contain changes from the old ROM to the new one, which are created by the user. Just to be clear, patches are allowed, as long as they have IPS or UPS extensions. Do not post pre-patched ROMs here; this is just as illegal as posting the original ROM itself.

Also, talking about emulator use is acceptable, as long as it does not involve ROM begging/providing. For example, it is okay to ask which emulator works best on Telefang, or how to use certain emulator features.

Basically, do not ask for or provide ROMs, or you will be sorry. Hopefully this thread will stop people from doing this.
