Post things about the Telefang series, and aren't about a particular Telefang game here.

I was searching for Telefang related things through Google and found a Japanese Nintendo website that had a page about a convention called Space World that happened in the year 2000 when Telefang came out. There was a playable demo of Telefang at the convention, and you can make out the words Telefang version in Japanese on the sign in one of the photos (although it doesn't say which version since the photo is cut off). There was a little piece about it on the website page, although it's just a general description of the game itself.

It turns out there was also a demo for a little known game called Koguruguru: Guruguru to Nakayoshi at the same convention as well. Someone posted recently about this game in the Other games forum.

Here's the original page I found this on: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/sw2000/sokuho/27/page04_3.html

Also, here's the translated version from Japanese: http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nintendo.co.jp%2Fn10%2Fsw2000%2Fsokuho%2F27%2Fpage04_3.html&act=url

The Telefang article is at the bottom of the web page. The photos from the convention are small but you should be able to see the Japanese characters for Telefang on the sign.

Given the general obscurity of this game, it's cool that this game was playable at Nintendo Space World 2000. I wonder what impressions people had on the game? Unfortunately, it's hard to tell from just two photos. Also, the description of the game on the site seems general, judging from the Engrish that Google Translate spits out. Still nice that Nintendo acknowledged the game, though.

I guess the game may have been more well known in Japan, perhaps that's why it was featured? Although, some of the games at the convention were somewhat unknown, so maybe it was based on new releases that year regardless of their rarity? I'm not sure whether Nintendo hand picked them themselves for the convention or not, or whether they were games endorsed by them. I'm not sure whether T2 may have had a similar playable demo as well when it came out.

I actually found some official pages on the same Nintendo.co.jp site for both versions of Telefang 2 and Bugsite. It's possible they might have had demos at Nintendo conventions too, although it doesn't say. The pages I found are just basic descriptions of the game, but they're something interesting at least.

Telefang 2 Speed:

Bugsite Alpha: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/sw2001/softlist/gbc/bug_s_a/index.html

Bugsite Beta: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/sw2001/softlist/gbc/bug_s_b/index.html

EDIT: Also found some small descriptions of both versions of Telefang 1 on the same site. It lists all of the Gameboy Color games that were shown at the convention. It seems the retail price for the Telefang games was 4,700 yen according to the pages.

EDIT2: Just realised that the pages for the Telefang 2 and Bugsite games were on the list of games shown at the Spaceworld 2001 convention the next year. Since they have pages on the site, it's possible they also had demos at the convention too, just like the first Telefang games.

EDIT3: Found an official page for Telefang 2 on the Nintendo.co.jp site as well: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n08/software/atpj/index.html
