So how does the code work, I tried it several times with no result. BTW item cheat code works for me.

Is the code used in hex editing or is a cheat code?

It's supposed to be a cheat code.
Are you sure you have cheats enabled? If you're using a GameShark, make sure the switch is towards the button. If you're using an emulator, make sure you have it set to enable cheats.

Yeap, I just have to input the code and say enable for my emulator, so where did I go wrong?
