A key is required.

1. Maybe the save is checksumed? Like, it somehow detects whether a save is hacked/corrupted by some checksum byte. Now, if only we knew what that byte was... (Also, I think that Pokémon games made after this have a similar mechanism... but I'm not sure...)
2. Even with my limited knowledge of katakana, I can say that "クリティカル!!" does, indeed, say "Critical!!" and not "Critical hit!" This isn't Pokémon, so the text doesn't have to match that of Pokémon.
3. I'll go look at that text dump now... XD

Well I thought Critical!! alone sounded weird, but I guess it can fit too.. >_>

Yeah, we've decided along the way that we're not going to use the same terms as Pokémon for anything
unless the Japanese used is identical to the Japanese in Pokémon. For most of the battle text, it seems like they went out of their way to make it sound different from Pokémon, so we'll respect that. XD
As for the other suggestions, I agree that "A key is required" sounds better than "You require a key" so we'll probably change that one. We stand by the other ones though.
Also, Kimbles wants to keep the punctuation the same where possible for now, but I can see cutting down on exclamation marks and such in places where it seriously messes up the spacing. So you don't need to add a whole new box for one exclamation mark.
I think the exclamation marks add a bit of charm.

Alright!!!

Why are we using the word "critical" at all? Shouldn't we use "It's a severe blow"? "It's not very effective" should be "But it was weak against <enemy denjuu's name>". "It's super effective" should be "It was highly effective", because using "super" and "effective" together is a Pokemon thing. "Would you like it to evolve?" should be "Would you like <denjuu's name> to evolve?" because Denjuu would be insulted by being called "it" like a common animal.
What is the singular term for Denjuu? Is it "Denji"?

Well the Japanese text says "Critical!!", so we are using it...
And I don't think you could use the bytes for the Denjuu name in the evolution decision there.
Yea, ok since this whole Pokemon thing.. well we'll keep it the Telefang way. I just thought the Pokemon phrase sounded okay... >_>
And there's no singular term for Denjuu, just like Pokemon. (lol)

XD We're using "critical" here because it spells out "kuritikaru" in katakana. I completely forget what pokemon used, but in G/S/C at least it may have been closer to "it's a severe blow"...*shrug*
Apart from that, it is a matter of only including what was said in japanese, unless it's obviously too vague or awkward...XD We
could say "it was highly effective", but the japanese specifically words it like "against this kind of enemy, you get extra/less damage", which is different. :/ I just shortened it in the translation so that it would hopefully fit in two lines like the japanese, but keep the same idea as the original sentence... *nod*
And yeah, the Denjuu name bytes are changed around
a lot, being used for both you and the enemy, and in evolution, for the Denjuu before and after it evolves. XD It occured to me that "it" sounded weird, but I think there are enough cases where we'll need to say it, and it's messy enough to change that we may as well leave it alone...*nod* It's still better than "he" when they could be female, or "them" which any english teacher will stab your eyes out for. *nod*

Actually the term Pokemon is both singular and plural.
Singular: "Hey look! It's a pokemon!"
Plural: "Look at all these pokemon!"
Denjuu is only plural. So may I suggest "Denji" as a singular term?

Well, it's the same thing. XD One Denjuu, two Denjuu. *nod* We've been using the word like that the entire time... I don't see any reason to change it. XD

"Hey look, it's a Denjuu!" sounds wrong.
"Hey look, it's a Denji!" sounds better.
