Fossil League and Dino Master are similar dinosaur battling games that got english releases. There's also Kyouryuu Monster (Dinosaur Monster), a Japanese only game as well. I think Dinosaur King started off a trend of these types of games due to it's popularity in Japan. The most popular ones seem to be Fossil Fighters and Dinosaur King overall.

(Yay came back from Cosi, dinos didn't have many fossils :'( ) Does Dinosaur King have an anime? It's a rumor that Fossil Fighters is getting one.
Dinosaur king sounds like Pokemon, first 'mon' game, I think. (Rex means king, t. rex means tyrant lizard king. Who knew?)

Dinosaur King has an anime, there's an english dub for it (by 4Kids I think?). I don't know about Fossil Fighters though. Dinosaur King is actually based on Mushiking, a Japanese bug fighting game that's very popular there. It started out as an arcade game.

I've played Fossil Fighters before, but I'm waiting on my copy from Amazon at the moment. I wanted a new copy, and sadly, I missed Gamestop selling their last one in Sugar Land two weeks ago.
