So, for anyone interested I've been working on a variable width hack for the game and just finished debugging it. I've tested it out and works perfectly (afaik). I'm pretty sure you all would like this handy hack, so I was wondering how exactly I go about distributing it to y'all? Do I just add another release on the wikifang site?

...
Wow.
Pretty much, you can just post it here. We'll take care about the Wikifang changelog.
.. You are the most awesome person I've met. How did you manage to do that?
Could you show some screenshots, please ? :'o

That is just awesome! You should either attach it in a post, or post it on an external site (like MediaFire). Don't worry about the Wikifang change log.
I still wonder if Arakudabaran's name will fit with its long name and wide letters... but in any case, fixed width fonts are much better than what we have now. It's like night and day.
(Telefang 2 could use it too eventually, as Denjuu also have 8-character limits. Even with the GBA's wider screen, many screens were designed to only fit 8 characters, like the D-Shot screen and the battle screen. There are similar issues with location names and items, etc...)

You mean,
variable width fonts. XD

Actually, Normmatt did a simple VWF hack for T2. Maybe we could ask him to continue. Here are two screenshots:

Here's the
patch with the requested screenshot:
Keep in mind that this is not what you'll see when you apply the patch. For formatting reasons, all widths are initially set for the entire tile. If you want to modify the width of the characters, the width table is located at 2FB00. For future reference, the width indicates the width of the character starting at the left of the tile. So for the best results, make sure all characters start at the left side of the tile.

Awesome. No, it's more than awesome.
I think I have regained the urge to break some character limits. I shall defeat you Arakudabaran! Mwahahahah!
Malias, you came out of nowhere twice and solved our biggest problems. Thank you so much!

Awesome! I didn't think it was possible, but it was! Thanks so much! I was able to change the width of the fonts (and I also made some of the letters look a bit better). I made a patch that changes all of this. Here's the link:

Unfortunately, there are quite a few glitches when working on this.
First, a lot of times in battle, I see the first letter of the Denjuu randomly disappear:
The letter "F" in "Fight" is also missing in this screenshot:
Besides that, some screens don't use variable width font. The Fight/Flee is one of them. It makes the fonts fixed width, and aligns them to the left, which makes it kinda ugly (notice the extra space after the "i"):
(Besides, you see Keshi's name glitch up again!)
Sometimes, the Denjuu's name doesn't show up at all (though selecting Status fixes this):
Due to the variable width, it drags the "Flee" over to the left, and the arrow overlaps it. Of course, blank spaces are used to position the "Flee" text over to the center, so you'll just need more spaces (see offset $1144C7 to see what I mean). But then the space between the arrow and "Flee" will be different from the space between the arrow and "Fight" and "Status", unless there are 8 different spaces all with varying length (i.e. one tile for each space).
The Denjuu's personality is missing a letter (though it doesn't always happen), it's fixed width, and the slash in the Experience field is missing (it should say "???/???", not "??? ???").
If I find more glitches, I'll post them here. Still, being able to produce a VWF is awesome for a GBC game.

Aww! It's missing my V30. That means I have to reapply all the pointers for map labels again...
...though, since we have the VWF now, we can make it longer, too, right? (Toronko Vill. -> Toronko Village)
But. It's awesome. So. Awesome.
Thank you.
Also, just for fun, I made each character as smallest as possible. The result was this:

Awesome.

That one is most likely my fault.

Well, you could have a space 1 pixel wide, then you could position it manually. But that would take a lot of unneccesary space...
I'm willing to go through the dialogue and recreate the line breaks to fit Blaziken's font width. Should I do it, or will there be anymore changes to the font or the routine? So that I won't have to redo it again.
