Wow. I have absolutely no idea how you found that. I was trying to find that too, but I gave up, because those offsets could have been anything. I wonder if there's some way to make this larger, but I can't seem to find a pointer table for it. Oh well. That's still something, though. I seriously wonder what those bytes are supposed to be between each letter?

I don't know. As I said before I assume that the letters are inserted each one at a time. The extra offsets are assumably what inserts the characters. I attempted to put in a fourth letter and discovered that what I assumed to be the fourth letter was really the cursor position after the preset name is inserted. The 03 means to move the text cursor from position 0 to position 3 after inserting the name. There is little use for it but I will give you an offset when I get home.

Oh, and by the way, I found out how to make it so that the buttons only input three letters instead of 5 or 10. Like, after A-B-C, I can make it go back to A instead of garbled letters. Do you want me to do that?

No. I put those extra letters in on purpose to allow the use of all characters.

That fact the no one can read japanese character, yet in the bootleg, even though the translation is bad, you would at least have a clue to know what to do next in the game.

Just look up the text in a hex editor and use this to convert them to Japanese characters while keeping everything in the same order as it appears in the rom. Not hard though it would be quite time consuming. The offsets for the dialogue text are somewhere around here.

I think can use something like WindHex and use the table files and dump it from there, maybe.

EDIT: I dumped the call text ($099130-$09A0A8) with the method above, took me 5 minutes. (lol! I cheated) And the result is ugly, but is readable.

Basically the CAPS one are Katakana, and the ones in [] are hiragana. The lowercaps ones are the small Katakana (like ゅ), and the lowercaps in {} are small hiragana. Maybe I'll do the converting to Jap first...

(EDIT2: By the way I notice that they katakana-ise stuff like denwa and tomodachi, even though they are actual words. Why?)

The text dump looks alright, but it's kind of hard for me to check if it's correct... If you did the intro text, I could compare it to the one I have saved...>_<
And yeah, katakana isn't just for loan words, it's also used for emphasis or making stuff stand out. XD It's really annoying when all you can read is katakana...
