Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
I don't know. As I said before I assume that the letters are inserted each one at a time. The extra offsets are assumably what inserts the characters. I attempted to put in a fourth letter and discovered that what I assumed to be the fourth letter was really the cursor position after the preset name is inserted. The 03 means to move the text cursor from position 0 to position 3 after inserting the name. There is little use for it but I will give you an offset when I get home.Blaziken257 wrote:Wow. I have absolutely no idea how you found that. I was trying to find that too, but I gave up, because those offsets could have been anything. I wonder if there's some way to make this larger, but I can't seem to find a pointer table for it. Oh well. That's still something, though. I seriously wonder what those bytes are supposed to be between each letter?
No. I put those extra letters in on purpose to allow the use of all characters.Blaziken257 wrote:Oh, and by the way, I found out how to make it so that the buttons only input three letters instead of 5 or 10. Like, after A-B-C, I can make it go back to A instead of garbled letters. Do you want me to do that?
I would like to take on this job actually if you don't mind. Though it would be helpful if Milnivri relieved us of the job of text dumping.Blaziken257 wrote:Sure! There's a lot of non-pointer stuff that still needs to be fixed:
- Items (8-character limit) - $02E652-$02E871
- Personalities (8-character limit, which the bootleggers didn't seem to recognize, which results in things like "!", but at least that's more than Telefang 2's 4-character limit) - $1D7928-$1D7987
- Status effects (limited to 4 chars, which the bootleggers also didn't really notice...) - $1D7988-$1D79C7 (I think it ends at 1D79C7, there may be more than that)
- Phrases when Denjuu arrive (16 chars, but this has text wrapping issues if you use all 16... also goes in the order of each Denjuu) - $1D5888-$1D6367
- Phrases when Denjuu attack (see above) - $1D6368-$1D6E47
- T-Fangers (8 chars - I already filled in Stranded Child as ISOLATE) - $1D4580-$1D46BF
Holy crap that is a lot of information!Blaziken257 wrote:There's some more stuff here:

EDIT: Fixed the item offsets.

I'll keep track of offsets for you to help you on your quest.
We are attempting to fix that silly Japanese text. :rolleyes:Kid Sonic wrote: I'll say this about the bootleg, it beats japanese characters that no one can read.

That fact the no one can read japanese character, yet in the bootleg, even though the translation is bad, you would at least have a clue to know what to do next in the game.Blaziken257 wrote:What are you talking about?Kid Sonic wrote: I'll say this about the bootleg, it beats japanese characters that no one can read.

Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
Just look up the text in a hex editor and use this to convert them to Japanese characters while keeping everything in the same order as it appears in the rom. Not hard though it would be quite time consuming. The offsets for the dialogue text are somewhere around here.Milnivri wrote:But then I don't really know how to do that... anyway I think I contradicted myself (never mind, nothing.)andwhyisit wrote: Though it would be helpful if Milnivri relieved us of the job of text dumping.

Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
Ohh, ok I get it. Never mind, I was thinking of something else... or got confused...
I think can use something like WindHex and use the table files and dump it from there, maybe.
EDIT: I dumped the call text ($099130-$09A0A8) with the method above, took me 5 minutes. (lol! I cheated) And the result is ugly, but is readable.
Basically the CAPS one are Katakana, and the ones in [] are hiragana. The lowercaps ones are the small Katakana (like ゅ), and the lowercaps in {} are small hiragana. Maybe I'll do the converting to Jap first...
(EDIT2: By the way I notice that they katakana-ise stuff like denwa and tomodachi, even though they are actual words. Why?)
Here it is anyway:
And here's what I converted so far... but then I don't feel like doing this anymore, I agree that the dump is bad...

Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
You did a better job than my pathetic attempt.Milnivri wrote: And here's what I converted so far... but then I don't feel like doing this anymore, I agree that the dump is bad...
But if you want to do something else and take over this stuff then go for it:
I accepted all of that because I had the time for it, now I don't. The recolouring work leaves me with little time to work on the patch at the moment, so you can do any of these if you want to.

So do I translate and put it in then post it as an IPS patch or just the text.

Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
The text alone would probably be more useful, for me at least...XD I've been kind of looking forward to doing the arrival and attack text. *nod*
The text dump looks alright, but it's kind of hard for me to check if it's correct... If you did the intro text, I could compare it to the one I have saved...>_<
And yeah, katakana isn't just for loan words, it's also used for emphasis or making stuff stand out. XD It's really annoying when all you can read is katakana...
