What Makes an Older Game Worth Revisiting Years Later?

I’ve been thinking about why some older games are still enjoyable years later while others feel difficult to return to.
For me, it usually comes down to a few things: simple mechanics, memorable characters, good pacing, and whether the game still gives you a reason to explore or experiment. Older handheld games can be especially interesting because they often had to do a lot with very limited hardware.
Telefang is a good example of a game that still has a dedicated community despite its age. I also think nostalgia plays a role, but it cannot be the only reason people keep revisiting older games.
Outside gaming, I spend quite a bit of time reading and working on academic projects too, so I sometimes end up jumping between retro games and resources like paper writing service material when I need a break from one or the other.
What keeps you coming back to Telefang or other older games? Is it mostly nostalgia, the gameplay itself, collecting, or something else?
