Greetings!

Relative newcomer to Telefang (only played half the bootleg, and that hardly counts) and seasoned veteran of Japanese Digimon fandom here.

My hobbies include monster-raising games, drawing, and nitpicking about katakana translations. :3

Take Krypto for example (or Crypto as it's probably named after Cryptomonas or another Crypto-plant). It's written Ku-Ri-Pu-To. The Pu katakana is a Fu katakana with a round accent. Meanwhile, the Fu katakana with a " accent is Bu. An easy mistake in translation would be KuRiBuTo.
Now, To is unusual. Usually when writing english words in Japanese, when they need a silent vowel they use "u", which is either barely pronounced or dropped entirely when said out loud. For example, Flame would be written FuReIMu. However, the T particle that ends in "u" is a unique "Tsu" which is pronounced differently than "Tu" would be, so can't be used except for a "Ts" sound. For example, "nuts" is "nattsu". Instead, they use To as the silent-ending particle. "Night" becomes "naito" and "Bat" becomes "batto". So when translating Katakana you have to judge when to include the To at the end of a word and when to drop the O sound.
So anyway, if you had the word KuRiBuTo and made a bad call on the translating, you might decide to drop the O on the To, and end up with something pronounced "ku-ri-boot". Something you might try to write as..."Kuribute"?
Dun dun dun.

I hope to start contributing to the wiki and translation efforts as soon as Kimbles' games arrive, so I can steal her Speed version. :D
Assuming it survives the battery-changing process. :/

So, anyway, I hear you guys like curry?

Welcome!

Er... we do like curry. *ahemcoughcough*

Anyway about the translations, it seems ironical. It becomes Kuribute in the end. How sad.

Kuribute is wrong, I'm just showing how you could mistranslate Krypto as Kuribute if you're bad at translating katakana. XD
Apparently the bootleggers were.
