Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
You keep saying that Telefang can't stand on its own as a game, and that it's completely flawed and needs to be more like pokemon. I'm sorry, but that's just completely out of place on a Telefang forum, not to mention pretty insulting. >_> Some of us actually do appreciate that the game is different from Pokemon, you know. :/
I'm not saying that you're not allowed to remake the game, and it's great that you have a vision and everything, but the thing is that you keep ranting and raving about it completely unrelated topics like this one. -_- So sorry if we horrible otakus are lashing or coming down hard on you, but the fact is that you're being downright annoying. We've heard your points, and we don't agree with you. I'm sorry.
Now, this topic is about a simple translation of the original, unmodified game. There are places to talk about pokemon remakes and gameplay hacks, but this is not one of them. You can make your own topic about your own projects and post your ideas and updates there. D: People might be more willing to listen to you, then.

Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
If you think we are lashing out on you then you are mistaken. This patch is meant as a translation only, not an improvement patch (as in our only changes are turning Japanese into English, nothing else). This is for people who wanted to know what the Japanese Telefang games are like without going to the effort of learning Japanese. Also not a single one of us have the skills to add new Telefang entries even if we wanted to.Kid Sonic wrote: Well you're shorting out Telefang pretty cheap. Telefang was invisible without Pokemon. There are other problems in Telefang, like the many unecessary evo's. The whole game needs to be reformed. And I don't like how you guys are coming at me, like I ever did anything to you guys. I guess it's in the nature of otakus to lash or come down hard on anyone with vision, but I digress......... <_<
And why not add any of these monsters period?

Re: (Incomplete) Telefang English Translation
Ok I have a plan. You guys can continue to translate the game. Then you guys can released these to eBay as a test. And when people start to acknowledge Telefang, i'll start reforming Telefang as a whole new series.
I'm putting you guys in charge of this translation. Make me proud, for Telefang! Afterall, this is our duty.
But if your doing this because of some half-minded bashings from Serebii members or TSR, don't waste your time trying to appeal to them.

I present to you all...
Power Version Menu Patch v8!!!
http://www.mediafire.com/?655woxsybdm
I have discovered where the preset name is (it is limited to 3 characters and each character is stored separate from each other), changed it to "Shi", cleaned up names, renamed "Krypto" to "Crypto" (in both the Denjuu names and Dialoue text), and added the 's symbol (hex value 06).
EDIT: Attempted to squeeze Shigeki into 3 tiles. You had to squint in order to see the text it was that bad. Explains why Shigeki was called Bek though.

No. Translation hacking takes quite a while to do. Aside from the intro we have mostly been doing non-dialogue stuff (menus, in-battle text, denjuu names, attack names, etc.).Kid Sonic wrote: So doesn't mean.......every last thing in Telefang has been translated?

Erm, can I help in the translation somehow? Like dump a certain part of the ROM (anywhere which you don't feel like doing) and let me do?
Cos I'm bored. Other than doing **** (not telling, you'll know when time comes...)

Actually, making a text dump would be really, really helpful. :O I'd need to put it into text to translate it anyway, and it's annoying copying it line-by-line...*nod* And if you're willing to help translate, by all means, do. XD

Wow. I have absolutely no idea how you found that. I was trying to find that too, but I gave up, because those offsets could have been anything. I wonder if there's some way to make this larger, but I can't seem to find a pointer table for it. Oh well. That's still something, though. I seriously wonder what those bytes are supposed to be between each letter?andwhyisit wrote:I present to you all...

Oh, and by the way, I found out how to make it so that the buttons only input three letters instead of 5 or 10. Like, after A-B-C, I can make it go back to A instead of garbled letters. Do you want me to do that?
Sure! There's a lot of non-pointer stuff that still needs to be fixed:Milnivri wrote:Erm, can I help in the translation somehow? Like dump a certain part of the ROM (anywhere which you don't feel like doing) and let me do?

- Items (8-character limit) - $02E652-$02E871
- Personalities (8-character limit, which the bootleggers didn't seem to recognize, which results in things like "!", but at least that's more than Telefang 2's 4-character limit) - $1D7928-$1D7987
- Status effects (limited to 4 chars, which the bootleggers also didn't really notice...) - $1D7988-$1D79C7 (I think it ends at 1D79C7, there may be more than that)
- Phrases when Denjuu arrive (16 chars, but this has text wrapping issues if you use all 16... also goes in the order of each Denjuu) - $1D5888-$1D6367
- Phrases when Denjuu attack (see above) - $1D6368-$1D6E47
- T-Fangers (8 chars - I already filled in Stranded Child as ISOLATE) - $1D4580-$1D46BF
There's some more stuff here:

EDIT: Fixed the item offsets.

I'll say this about the bootleg, it beats japanese characters that no one can read.
