Re: Game code
Pretty much any form of Nintendo media has some sort of code identifying what it is. Example: German Pokémon Reds is DMG‑APAD‑NOE. (Ignore the big 00, I cannibalized this image from somewhere.)
What codes do Telefang have? I suspect theyre something along the lines of CGB‑***J‑JPN, as that seems to be the general pattern (system, three‐character identifier, language, and region).

Re: Game code
Well, my copy of Power has (PA)DMG-BTXJ-JPN. D: I don't know what the brackets mean. >_>
Edit: I found a picture of Speed on ebay. XD It has (PA)DMG-BTZJ-JPN.

Re: Game code
Well, the ROM header of Power has TELEFANG PWBXTJ, so I guess it... makes... Wait, it makes no sence! The bootleg has PWBTXJ! The original has PWBXTJ! It... what... why...
I don't get it! Why would the bootleggers "fix" the code? Or why would... oh my god, my head hurts

Re: Game code
Maybe the bootleggers did it by accident? They hacked the game pretty sloppily, after all. It's annoying, though, because it takes extra work to load a save state from Diamond to Power and vice versa.
Re: Game code
You don't get it. The game code in the bootleg ROM is the same as on the box of original Telefang! And the Telefang ROM has different game code then the box!

Oh, wow. I didn't even notice that until now. That's really strange. Do you think it's possible that whoever dumped the Telefang Power ROM dumped it incorrectly or something? That's my only guess.
Re: Game code
You can't just dump one byte wrong.
I seriously have no idea.

Re: Game code
Well, there's another possibility. Aren't there two editions, one with an antenna, and one without? Maybe the BXTJ one is the one that doesn't come with an antenna? Who knows?
Re: Game code
Ah that would kinda make sense.. although the Limited version was only different in that it included the antenna and possibly had a different sticker x_x
Now I'm curious what code my bootleg copy of Speed has.. I don't have any equipment to dump it with though, meh.

Re: Game code
That sounds as a plausible explanation. Still, I think that even if your cart came without the antenna, you will be able to connect it. It makes perfect sence on the box, but not the game. But I guess that the game needs to have the same code as the box, so...
