Is a Porsche AC specialist worth the extra cost, or will any garage do?
My Porsche Cayenne has about ninety five thousand kilometres, and the AC has been weak for a month. It blows cool but never cold, and the fan sounds louder than before. I live in Sharjah and work near Industrial Area 10, so the car sits in the sun all day and the AC runs from the first minute. A general garage quoted me a low price for a gas refill. Then a friend told me to go to a Porsche specialist, because these cars have sensors and computer controls that normal garages do not always understand. My brother says that is just a way to pay double and any good AC shop can do the same job. I looked online for a Top Porsche AC specialist in Industrial Area 10, but every page said the same thing, so I still do not know what makes one better than the other. Does a specialist have a better scanner for the AC codes? Does a general garage know how to test the pressure and find a leak properly on a Porsche? Is the price gap really big, and is it worth it for a car this age? Is it okay to start with a general garage for a basic check, or can that cause problems later? How long does a check take, and what should it cost? If you used a specialist or a normal garage for your Porsche AC, please tell me what you picked, what you paid, and what you would do differently. Easy answers help me most.
