Hello all! Name's CrazyDawgy. I've been a lifetime fan of Pokemon since the R/B/Y days and have always been fascinated by the bootlegs like Diamond and Jade. A few days ago I won a copy of Pokemon Jade on eBay that somehow sifted through and it has worked perfectly for me. Aside from the hilarious Engrish that makes the plot harder to comprehend, it's actually a surprisingly solid game, and after all the negativity generally directed towards it I was expecting a horrid Pokemon clone... but I actually love it! I have known about Telefang for a while now, but upon actually owning it (or the bootleg, whatever) I did some research on the series and found this place. It seems like a nice little community and it seems like you all think bootlegs are kind of cool for the rarity as I do, so I decided to sign up.
I'm currently in Alice and just exited the cave as I post this, and so far my cart seems to be holding up fairly nicely. It saves well, it lets me soft reset, and it works XD
Custom tunes do come out screwed up, though, and calling secret Denju does mess up. Well, they pick up, but after their little monologue the screen goes black. Also, for some reason, sometime moving around a lot or even one block on the title screen before choosing continues causes the game to freeze entirely and I have to restart. Has anyone else experienced this? It happens when I don't want it too, and when I try to do it it works fine! XD
But yeah, glad to be here. So far I'm finding Telefang to be a blast and it's a shame the English speaking part of the world never got an official look into it. Maybe if they ever make a DS version it'll come overseas...

Welcome! It's funny, I felt the exact same way you did when I first played a Diamond ROM. I thought I was going to hate it, and I wanted to see it to believe it. But I ended up liking it. That's funny how you don't have some of the glitches. Does it crash after the Game Over screen? Also, I never heard of the game freezing just from navigating the menu. That's pretty weird. The bootleggers definitely weren't careful in hacking this game...
Anyway, have some curry!

Hi there!
Yeah, some of the glitches are pretty new.
Yup, a DS remake is a grand dream of everyone here. Too bad that chances of one are slim, as the company went off business ):

Thanks for the quick welcome, guys! I like this place already.
Blaziken- No, actually, my game plays fine after a GAME OVER and simply goes back to the title screen. For some reason, though, be it through a game over or just letting the intro loop, it never says the full Keitai Denju- TELEFANG! sound clip after the first time it plays the clip. It just says TELEFANG! Is this normal? Also, for some reason, I can't get it to hang up on the menu again. It did it all the time before I saved in Alice...
Sanky- My cart has a little sticker with a bunch of Chinese writing on the back that says "2004" so I don't think it's too new. Also, that's horrible about the company! D: Does any other company have the rights now that Smilesoft has gone under?
I hear you guys have a few patch projects underway. I'm not good at Japanese but if there's anything else you need assistance with I'd be happy to lend a hand.

Rocket has the rights. However there is no indication that they will ever work on a new Telefang game, let alone a remake.CrazyDawgy wrote: Does any other company have the rights now that Smilesoft has gone under?

Well, that's certainly better than there being no chance at all I suppose. Team Rocket, heheh.

Smilesoft games' websites:
http://rocketcompany.co.jp/telefang/
http://rocketcompany.co.jp/t2/
http://rocketcompany.co.jp/dd/
http://rocketcompany.co.jp/bugsite/
http://rocketcompany.co.jp/ehon/ (Yes, I found the Digital Ehon site)
Plus rocket made a sequel to Smilesoft's dino device:
http://www.rocketcompany.co.jp/dino2/
There have been a few other monster-raising games done by Rocket:
http://www.rocketcompany.co.jp/tmeda/
http://www.rocketcompany.co.jp/mushi1/
http://www.rocketcompany.co.jp/devichil/
But other than that they have shot off in a completely different direction:
http://rocketcompany.co.jp/products/index.html
Lets face it, Rocket gave up on monster-raising RPGs 20 game releases ago and it seems like they will most likely never return to the genre.

Yeah, it certainly looks that way DX It's really a shame, too... a DS Telefang would rock. Plus with the sudden trend of releasing old Japanese series on DS (see Stafy) and releasing every bad monster-catcher there is (with Telefang actually being good!) I can see a fairly high chance of a stateside release. But, as you just proved, the evidence is against it, so I guess I'll just stick to Pokemon Jade for the time being...
