Really. The reason why people hate it so much is because of the awful bootleg version. It's translated badly, has glitches that the original doesn't have (such as being unable to load a saved game), and misuses the Pokémon name. This probably caused people to think that it was a bad attempt at a Pokémon game, even though it was never meant to be one in the first place. It felt like Pokémon... with a twist. Instead of Poké Balls, you use a cell phone to battle other... Denjuu. And the gameplay was radically different, but it felt fresh. It also took a while to beat too, though the mazes were rather annoying. Who else likes this game?

I liked this game. It had lots of appeal, but unfortunately two things held it back. 1 is that it is a somewhat pirated game and people don't seem to like that, and 2 is that not many people heard of it.

Infact, I wouldn't have heard of it if my cousin hadn't given me it.

I got this game as a 2 in 1 with Pokemon Crystal (odd combo but there you go)

The Crystal worked fine, better than my Spanish 2 in 1 Gold and Silver with complementary 3 letter pokemon names and broken text (yes, that's right) but the only thing wrong was that when I accessed the Pokegear and went onto the radio, the day changed by 5 (so Monday becomes Saturday, etc) and I can't tell you how sometimes annoying yet sometimes helpful this was. (eg. Unlimited Bug Catching Competitions)

I heard of the bootlegs pretty early on, reading posts somewhere where people were speculating whether the Diamond "snake" was a Lapras evolution, and that Krypto was definitely a Sandslash evo >_> I knew they weren't Pokémon games right away, but I wanted to see what they were like since I love monster-collecting RPGs.

Eventually, I realized there were pretty much no Telefang fansites anywhere (why?! it's not THAT obscure..) so I made my Telefang Index. It still needs a lot of work though, I wanted to do a whole revamp of the site and Denjuu index actually (the current layout was swiped from the official Telefang page that Smilesoft had up) plus I have to add Telefang 2 stuff.

You got one of those? Is it like the one mentioned on the TRSrockin site? I heard about that one... it sounds weird, though, with the days glitching up. It seems that bootlegs have tons of glitches (Diamond sure does!).

Hey, I was wondering when you'd show up. Anyway, I've heard of the bootlegs back in 2002, but didn't know much about them. When I learned more about the games (by reading the reviews on GameFAQs), I thought the games were made from scratch and the games were horrible attempts at Pokémon games (seriously, if you heard of a fake Pokémon game, learned that you call them with cell phones, and didn't know it was really a completely different game, you'd think it would be stupid too). Of course, I later learned it was a hack of Telefang, and later saw some YouTube videos of it. Despite the weird Engrish, it looked interesting, and I later played it myself not too long ago. It was fun, and despite the glitches/Engrish, I liked it a lot. It was like Pokémon with a twist (well, that's how I look at it, anyway). And of course, I did some research and one of the sites I came across was yours (since it was linked off of Wikipedia). Good site, by the way. It has lots of information and is IMO the definitive source of information on Telefang.

I like this game specially the idea of cellphone and phone numbers :D Never really encountered something like that on a game before. You call the e-monsters and they call you, that was good. The idea of carrying the items to the counter when buying was pretty cool as well. The best is the ability of the e-monster to follow you around! You have a companion while you walk around!

The crappy english didnt bother me...LOL coz I think my english sucks. I seriously like that part when that fat guy got shocked. He jumped and said s**t.

I just hate it when you can't escape in a battle.

About the shop...who was that e-monster on the counter? Geron or Gerlin? Dang a business e-monster
